This Teacher's Story

Get to know James Petrillo, a retired teacher with a 33-year career in public education. He tells of his journey through stories and anecdotes from his time in the classroom and beyond. Learn about the LGI fire, the landslide, the Faculty vs. the New York Giants, and the real but comical things that have happened to him inside and outside of the classroom. He was once called "The Story Man" because there was never a story he didn't enjoy telling. This is a peek into why and how he became a teacher, his being director of the middle school chorus, director of the middle school plays and his time in the middle school and high school as Student Activity Coordinator. Mr. Petrillo shares his personal philosophy on Education and the differences in Teaching during his classroom days from the late 1960's until his time as a Substitute Teacher up to 2023.
